Sarah Joy Stoker - Pixel Bear
Pixel Bear is a mixed media exhibition of photography, video and live performance created and performed by Sarah Joy Stoker. The work was generated by Stoker while in the Arctic last year as part of The Arctic Circle Residency for Art and Science, navigating the west coast of Svalbard to reach beyond 80º north latitude, nearing the North Pole. This work is an alert, an alarm, a call for extreme mobilization, a warning, a distress call, an EMERGENCY. The making and showing of this work is an act of action, grieving and hope. It is an absolute rejection of imperial colonialism that has and continues to ravage this world, raging blind capitalism, entitlement, arrogance, and violence. It is an act of and call for the most extreme reverence, the most profound love and the deepest experience of grief and mourning.
