Lori Clarke - dark hearts flower
In an era marked by suicide, homicide, genocide, ecocide, and death by overdose,
there is an urgent need for containers to process our grief.
We need ways to connect and create narratives that uplift and dispel shame.
dark hearts flower is an emergent, process-centred ritual led by inter-artist and somatic therapist Lori Clarke, in St. John’s, Ktamqaq (Island of Newfoundland). dark hearts flower is about the flowering heart of grief, and challenges society's reluctance to engage with grief, offering paths toward compassionate and communal witness.
With support from Arts NL and in collaboration with Project Leanto, dark hearts flower is offering a creative lab and community of care process, for youth who have experienced loss. This workshop will be led by Lori Clarke and Kelly Jane Bruton.
The workshop offers creative structures (text-based, movement/dance, sound/music, textiles/visual media) for exploring and sharing our losses, and will culminate in a public sharing of sounds, texts, and gestures in early November (format, time and location tbd by participants).
Funding support for this project is from ArtsNL.
